    1. Thank you.
I was fussing and fussing, trying to direct the .exe to use my previous .snt file.
Now it is. All other “help” areas were under the assumption that either the app or the data couldn’t be found. I found both. Now they’re linked and I’m a happy chick.
      Thanks.

    2. I saved a backup on my old windows 7 computer. When I pasted the backup onto my windows 10 computer, it doesn’t work. The sticky notes is just blank. Please Help?

      1. Hi Firebolt,

After your comment i checked the procedure once again. Since Microsoft updated the sticky notes app in windows 10 to Universal App, the above mentioned procedure is not working for it. I’ll soon update the post with an updated procedure that works in windows 10 too.

Thanks for bringing it to my notice. :)

    3. This actually WORKED! I moved my sticky notes from Windows 7 to Windows 10. It took a little work to figure out that Windows 10 Sticky Notes files are no longer stored as .snt files, but this work around is simple and worked beautifully!

    4. I wanted to restore from windows 7 to windows 10 and found the solution in http://stackoverflow.com/questions/38823336/where-sticky-notes-are-saved-in-windows-10-1607

      1. Open %LocalAppData%\Packages\Microsoft.MicrosoftStickyNotes_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalState
      2. Close Sticky Notes
      3. Create a new folder named Legacy inside folder LocalState
      4. Under the Legacy folder, copy your existing StickyNotes.snt, and rename it to ThresholdNotes.snt
      5. Start the Sticky Notes app. It reads the legacy .snt file and transfers the content to the database file automatically.

      It worked for me.

    5. I just installed Windows 7 to Windows 10 yesterday.
However, the sticky note file is corrupted.
Google has searched and found your blog.
Finally, I got your sticker note back thanks to you.
      Thank you so much really♡

      1. Hi Anfisa,
I have already mentioned the locations in the post itself. The sticky notes saved folder is different for windows 10 and other windows older versions.

The saved folder location is same in Windows 7 / 8 / 8.1

        %AppData%\Microsoft\Sticky Notes
        C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky Notes

You can use any of the above on your device running windows older than windows 10. In case of using the second path, please replace the with your windows username.

The Sticky notes saved folder location in windows 10 is :
